Overall - Mar 2010:
Finally, some decent wings to save what was shaping up to be an EPIC FAIL night. NOTL Pub Crawl 2010 wasn’t off to a good start after the first venue failed to deliver. Fortunately, the Angel Inn came through we some wings we could appreciate! Decent sized, although a little dry. We asked for some extra hot sauce on the side which made them just about right. Fairly standard fare otherwise but worthy of a boost in score.
We also enjoyed a few pints of Guinness while the band butchered some Billy Joel tunes in the other room. A roaring fire in the fireplace certainly set the mood and also helped to ensure that nobody’s waffle was chilly for the rest of the night. ;)
Overall - May 2007:
The second spot visited on our NOTL pub crawl was the Olde Angel Inn...a pub that’s been there since 1789 according to their website. I guess that’s explains the ’Olde’ moniker? Wonder if it was called the ’Newe Angel Inn’ back then?
An impressive beer selection with plenty of premium imports on tap, good atmosphere, but the wings were somewhat ordinary.
Decent sized wings, with a fairly generic sauce - a little too heavy on the vinegar though. We woulda stuck around longer but there were other places to be and other people to see.
Also, props to Mike B for pulling a top cock and picking up the tab for this round!
