Overall - Feb 2004:
Well, the COCK is gone but the place remains the same. It had been awhile since our last visit to the former Cock and Pheasant (now the Fox and Pheasant) and we are pleased to report that it has retained many of the features that made it a BHON favourite.
WINGS: - Big, hot and saucy...pretty good for a British Pub that prides itself on its primarily British menu!
BEER: - No domestic beer on tap! Only imports! We enjoyed many Guinness and Tennants this evening, but it does get a tad expensive without our usual Rickards Red to fall back on.
SERVICE: - Ugh...this is the only thing that brought the score down. The place was packed, and with only 1 guy serving the entire place and bartending, we ended up waiting a LONG time for ANY service whatsoever. Admittedly, the pre-spring break crowd was unexpected, but sitting with an empty beer glass makes BHON unhappy regardless of the excuse!

Well, I guess I gotta get me some glasses. I saw the sign out front, and I was so excited as I entered the Cock and Peasant, I could hardly contain myself. Just when you think you`re in for an evening of having fellatio performed on you by some economically challenged women, reality sets in. A "Pheasant", a friggin game bird. Oh well, thay had wings, decent sized, covered in a fine institutional sauce. Fortunately, they went quality and served NO institutional grade beers, just some good old Rickards Red. Mr. X. did nothing out of the ordinary, nor was anything he said to be ridiculed.
And it was an extra special Father-Son BHON Night! A thanks to Ron Sr.+ Ron Jr., Robin + Eric for making the first Father-Son BHON night a big success! |
