Every once and awhile you come across one of those places that has a character all its own, a sense of history and a sense of purpose in a community. The Norfolk Tavern has a long history in the town of Port Dover, made popular by the biker community with their regular Friday the 13th runs to this quaint little Lake Erie town.
Much like the Lion Tavern in Port Dalhousie, or the Rex Hotel in Welland, you can’t help but feel this seemingly seedy little watering hole has been here forever. It’s unfortunate that many people wouldn’t give places like this a second look when beneath the surface you can often find some excellent food, drink and good times. Of course that is what BHON is all about!
The wings were quite good, above average in size with a decent buffalo variety wing sauce. A good deal at 30 cents a piece! Also impressive were the 3 dollar pints of Rickards Red that made this experience an exceptional value. The only drawback to the Norfolk would be the fact that it is too far to drive from Niagara for a BHON night!
If anyone is ever up for a road trip to Dover, we suggest you give the Norfolk a visit!
