Overall - Feb 2022:
So it has been a while since we have updated Manhattan’s review. Since their induction to the 100 Club in 2008 they have become part of our regular rotation. When the covid-19 pandemic hit us in March of 2020 we watched helplessly as many of our favourite places struggled to survive. The hospitality and food and beverage industries were hit especially hard by the lockdowns, while we just wanted to go for a beer with our friends again!
When Manhattan’s opened their makeshift parking lot patio, we were the first in attendance. When limited indoor dining returned after the first lockdown, we celebrated our 25th anniversary there. Then lockdown #2 came, followed by more ever-changing rules and regulations. Who knew where we would eventually end up?
Fast forward to February 2022....and the province finally green-lit indoor dining again as part of (hopefully) the final reopening plan. We returned to Manhattan’s once again to enjoy each other’s company, some cold pints and tasty wings.
A huge shout out to Wayne and Tara for keeping the doors open through these miserable times....we’re glad to be back!
Overall - Nov 2018:
It’s Official. With this last visit to Manhattan’s we can say that they have maintained the standards for which we have become accustom to. The wings were spot on again, the Burbon Maple BBQ with a mix of hot sauces is still da bomb. And the Guinness always seemed to show up just when it was needed. Maybe even too quick some times. ;)
Not too noisy or loud, we are able to talk to each other without shouting to be heard. And better chairs and tables this time round out to top scores.
So Welcome Manhattans to the BHON 100 club. Now just don’t follow the Celtic Club and let it go to your head and disappear on us.
Overall - May 2018:
Well, after 15 years we figured we might have to visit this place again. Especially when we heard our favorite guy from the Celtic club ended up here after they closed. So, what has changed in 15 years? A lot.
Cheers to our guy Ryan (Rhino)! We walked in, moved to the quiet side of the bar and had a seat. Within 5 minutes Ryan showed up with a couple of pints of Guinness. Saw us come in and knew exactly what we needed. As more members showed up for the night, he was there with a beer and a smile. Customer service at its finest! And comping a couple of pints at the end of the night never hurts anything. ;)
Wings - well what can we say. Ryan suggested that we try their house Maple Bacon Bourbon wings and the suicide wings. Damn, both were spot on delicious. We were a little concerned about the MBB wings, thinking that the Maple might be too overpowering like Teddy’s wings but that is not the case. Truely a taste treat. And the size? Monster! Harking back to the Taste of the Carribean, these puppies were massive! And at 85 cents after 8:00 PM, a steal of a deal!
The side we sat on wasn’t crowded, wasn’t loud and we could sit and talk without screaming at each other. Another bonus in the environment category.
So what does this mean? Manhattan’s Bar and Grill gets a ratings jump to 95%. A definite return to this fine establishment is scheduled for the near future. And if we get a repeat performance (which I have no doubt we will) then Manhattan’s will most likely be pushed up into the 100 Club.
Cheers!
Overall - January 2003:
Decent sized wings, a little suicide sauce on the side helped out with the heat. None of our favourite good dark beers on tap, but that’s what is supposed to be discovered in PRE-RUNNING! A cozy little place, not really setup for a bigger BHON night.
