Overall - Apr 2023:
A bit of a dip in score this time around. Why, you ask? Well maybe it was just an off night for them or maybe we just weren’t feeling so generous this time.
First, it was quite busy - not necessarily a bad thing, but they were woefully understaffed for the evening. Our poor server seemed run off her ass and she struggled to get back to us in any timely fashion. No wonder....there was only 1 server on for the entire place!
Second, what happened to the wings? A bit on the small side and a bit overcooked for our liking.
Not all is lost though....still had nice cold Guinness on tap and it was a decently priced night. Will have to revisit again as perhaps it was just an anomaly.
Overall - Aug 2022:
Well this was a pleasant surprise! A nice, local, non-pretentious pub located right in the old towne! Who woulda thought you could find a decent watering hole in Niagara on the Lake? (No offense to the Olde Angel Inn and The Irish Harp). But the Sandtrap was exactly the type of place we usually look for in a wing-establishment.
Guinness on tap (and available in pitchers no-less) - check! Decent sized and reasonably priced wings - check! Not too busy and not too loud - check!
We ordered a few pounds of the Buffalo hot, along with a pound of their ’Trap Wings’, which were a garlic and hot-sauce mix. Neither were disappointing. The Buffalo hot were a standard Frank’s and butter mix, while the Trap wings had a unique flavour but were slightly overcooked for our liking. Our server was fun and friendly and the bill at the end of the night was quite reasonable for a change.
Overall a good night - and perhaps a new spot for the regular rotation? |
