Overall - Nov 2020:
Probably the worst possible year for us to try and review ANY new bar due to the pandemic, we decided to take a leap of faith (nice pick Steve - LOL!) and drive out to the middle of nowhere aka Ridgeway, ON! Was it worth the trip you ask? Yep! Yep! Yep!
Guinness on tap and decent sized wings available in a dozen different flavours. Sometimes this is a good thing, other times we think a place would be better off if they focused more on a few good styles instead. Like, does anyone really order dill-pickle, asiago parmesan wings? Does anyone really WANT dill-pickle, asiago parmesan wings? I know I don’t....
Anway, here’s the rundown of what we ordered:
Traditional Hot: - Buffalo style, fairly standard Frank’s Hot Sauce flavour.
Yipi Cayenne: - A bit hotter than standard hot, but with more cayenne tang to it.
Fuh-Get-About It: - These we supposedly the hottest on the menu, with a distinct ghost-pepper flavour. They certainly brought the heat, but ghost pepper really doesn’t add much to the overall taste. I prefer a good habanero burn myself.
George Clooney: - Our buddy John ordered these....a dry rubbed salt and pepper flavour. He ate ’em all so I presume they were good?
Jamaican Jerk: - My least favourite of the bunch, they had a slimy texture with a kind of a chemical taste to them, not the dry-rubbed jerk spice I was expecting. Oh well, you can’t win ’em all!
Overall we had a good time, enjoyed our usual pints of Guinness and some unique wings. Definite reason to visit Ridgeway again in the future (oh and Brimstone Brewery is just up the street too!). Roadtrip anyone?
