Overall - July 2019:
Our last stop in the International BHON Tour of 2019 brought us to the Porter House Brewing Company. Located on the edge of the Temple Bar district, this place came recommended by our tour bus driver as a great place to enjoy some local craft brew and grab a reasonably priced dinner.
Upon entry, the place was packed. The bar itself is spread out over multiple floors and we had to climb up several flights of stairs to get a table. Up at the top floor, we were treated to a great view of the streets below while we ordered up a few pints from the MANY available on the menu. I started with a Nitro Red Ale, followed by a Whiskey Barrel aged Celebration Stout. Both were sublime alongside the steak sandwich and fries I’d ordered. Since they also had wings on the menu, I had to order up a pound to try.
Again, I was pleasantly surprised to find decent-sized, tasty wings with a mild afterburn. Certainly as good as what we have back home. I would still give the Brazen Head a bit of an edge, but these wings would hold their own against any of the better wing spots back in Niagara. Also props to the unique atmosphere. Despite being quite busy, the overall place had a really cosy and relaxing vibe to it, along with the music playlist which consisted mostly of bluesy-reggae with a touch of classic rock thrown in. They also had a stage that was viewable from multiple floors for live music, though we didn’t stick around long enough to see what the bands were like.
Check another box in the WIN column for Dublin. Now I really don’t want to leave!
