Overall - March 2020:
Not much changed since our previous visits. This time the wings were kind of scrawny, overcooked and drowned in Frank’s Hot Sauce.
We had some Taps Red Cream Ale, which was an acceptable choice but no substitute for Guinness. Also it was excessively loud, which is predominantly due to the acoustics of the place.
The only real saving grace was it was a cheap night and we actually left with carryover!
Overall - Nov 2017:
Formerly the old location of the Overtime Pub, we were curious to see whether anyone would reopen in this spot after the former tenant’s departure in the summer of 2016. The new incarnation of an old favourite would be Bezo’s Bar and Grill, which opened in October 2017.
First impressions were generally good - basically the same interior as the Overtime, not much has changed. They eliminated the pool table and dart boards in favour of more seating space, and added a mix of high-top bar tables in addition to the regular dining space.
There was no Guinness on tap, so we mistakenly ordered the first pitcher of Michelob something or other, not realizing it was that low-carb diet beer that tasted like goat-piss. Our bad....and by no means their fault! We course corrected with a pitcher of Rickards Red followed by a few pitchers of local-brew from Taps Brewing in Niagara Falls.
The wings were decent sized and well prepared with a fairly generic but decent hot sauce and the overall cost for the evening turned out to be quite reasonable.
Overall a decent first attempt. It was mostly dead for a thursday night and very quiet (which we liked) but that doesn’t suggest longevity in this industry. We do wish them success and plan on returning soon. |
