Overall - June 2013:
They’re Baaaaaack! Yayyyy!!!!
After a multi-year hiatus, we were excited to learn that Hooters would soon be returning to the Honeymoon Capital with a new location right in the heart of the tourist district! Has it been worth the wait? Well....yes and no. Allow us to explain....
The Good:
Much better parking arrangement than at the old location. Just mention to the hotel front desk that you are going to Hooters and you don’t have to pay to park. That’s a plus for sure!
The So-So:
The new layout feels a bit generic. I think it used to be a Denny’s restaurant before and it feels like they just painted the place orange inside and added some TV’s and a bar. Instead of the old style roadhouse feel, the new place just doesn’t seem to have any atmosphere beyond that of a generic chain eatery.
The Not So Good:
There were a few Hooters girls hanging around, and the place was definitely not very busy. Certainly not buzzing with activity like the old days. The girls seemed more content hanging around at the bar and chatting with each other than interacting with the patrons, which is something that Hooters is famous for. The service was SLOW. Our server was inattentive and seemed oblivious to the empty beers accumulating at our table - not good!
Usually a trip to Hooters is something memorable. This time around we felt a bit underwhelmed. Maybe it was just an off night, but we weren’t overly impressed.
