BHON - May 2015 |
75% |
Overall - May 2015:
For several years, the original Queen’s Guard Pub in Chippawa was one of our regular spots to attend. Sadly they closed up early in 2013, leaving a void in the south end of Niagara Falls.
Fortunately, a few of the previous staff got together and resurrected the bar in a new location almost directly across the street from where they were before. Did they live up to their previous BHON score? Let’s see....
The Good:
Guinness on tap, about $6.30 a pint. Nice big patio up front and a lot more seating space inside than the previous location. Above average sized wings with a fairly standard hot sauce and reasonably priced.
The Not so Good:
Only one server working the main bar, inside floor and patio made the service quite slow. They messed up our order initially, only doing one pound of wings, and it seemed like one batch was resauced and reheated to make up the difference. We also ordered a batch of suicide wings which the cook had to improvise with a mixture of regular hot sauce cut with sriracha or something odd.
Overall a bit below what we usually come to expect, but perhaps it was just an off night. Perhaps worthy of a return visit to see if they can return to their former glory? (Not glory hole) |
