Overall - April 2015:
After a long winter hiatus, our first new review of 2015 brought us back to the Rose city to a familar location. Formerly the Elbow Room, Tailgates Bar and Grill now occupies the back corner of the Fitch Street plaza beside the Giant Tiger.
No Guinness on tap, but that wasn’t unexpected. This IS Welland afterall! We enjoyed a few pitchers of Keith’s Red and saved a few bucks on the bill as a result.
As for the wings, we ordered a round of Buffalo Hot and a round of ’Yikes’ wings, neither of which were terribly spicy. However, the wings were huge, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Perfectly cooked, and the ’Yikes’ sauce was exceptionally tasty. It had an unexpected sweetness and slight afterburn which we all agreed was the hit of the night.
A final bonus when the bill arrived, we actually had to take money back as it amounted to a $20 night - almost unheard of since the early days of BHON!
