I guess St. Catharines wasn’t ready for a LGBTQ friendly bar that pushed the fact that it was LGBTQ friendly in your face.
Fare well Griffon Pub!
Overall - Apr 2014:
Here’s the formula… - take a mediocre sports bar - take down some of the sports paraphernalia - put a few lamps bought at a flea market on the tables - change the sign outside - Voila! New bar! What else can we say? Guinness on tap? Well no….despite the giant GUINNESS sign hanging on the wall (leftover from Players I guess). Murphy’s Stout was a decent substitute, which ran dry by 10:30. Wings…okay size but kinda funky tasting, like they’d been in the freezer awhile. Ketchupy sauce, not really hot at all. Flat rate 70 cent pricing not bad though. Service…slow as fuck, and we never did get any napkins that we’d asked for. Plus the waiter seemed in a hurry, cleaning up the table while we were still eating, then trying to stick us with the bill so he could cash out. Noisy table of glunts on the other side of us cackling away like intoxicated waterbuffalo until the glunt mobile came to take them back to the farm. In fact the bulk of the crowd consisted of skinny-jean, flannel-scarf, shaggy haired, horn-rimmed-glasses-wearing hipsters and Emo’s, still sulking that Alexisonfire broke up. Sometimes I am glad I am old….. Not horrible, not great. Okay wings. Murphy’s Stout. Good prices. Lame crowd. |
