Overall - June 2004:
Well, we were originally hesitant to try out the Honest Lawyer thinking we’d be overrun by the 20-something college crowd that tend to frequent the downtown core on most weeknights. Forunately, this wasn’t the case and we had a great warm spring evening to enjoy our first visit to this popular establishment.
BEER - We enjoyed many a pint of Guinness along with a few yards of Keiths. Certainly plenty of decent imports on tap here, though we had to knock them slightly for not having pitchers.
WINGS - We first experienced the Honest Lawyers wings at the Niagara Hops and Wing ding a couple years back. They have several varieties including Cajun, Jerk, Honey Garlic and a killer Suicide. We sampled several and were reasonably impressed with all. The only detracting factors were that the small batches of wings seemed fairly expensive and didn’t seem to go very far in serving the hungry BHON crowd. We also noticed a bit of inconsistency in flavour from one batch to the next.
OVERALL - Cool place, funky atmosphere, good beers on tap and a decent variety of wings. Definately worth a revisit the next time BHON swings though downtown St. Catharines.
