Ladies and gentlemen! This year marks the twentieth anniversary of BHON! Since our humble beginnings in September of 1996, BHON has outlasted countless trends. We’ve also produced a total of 192 bar reviews on our site, saw the elimination of smoking in public spaces, the birth of several BHON babies, marriages, divorces and re-marriages of some members along with the comings and goings of many faces over the years. Here are some other notable events that have taken place since the birth of BHON in 1996:

• 1996 - First version of programming language Java was released.

• 1997 - First ever DNA clone, Dolly the sheep was born.
• 1998 - Google was incorporated as a company.
• 1998 - US president Bill Clinton impeached after the Monica Lewinski scandal.
• 1999 - Clinton acquitted by the senate in February 1999, retains presidency.
• 1999 - The Euro is established as the default currency of the new European Union.
• 1999 - The year ends with widespread fear over the so-called ’Y2K millenium bug’.
